Stuck at a crossroad

I’m sitting in the kitchen–not my own–with the sun shining in through the windows, a steady breeze blowing and the birds, happily chirping in the trees. I am, yet again, procrastinating on several different projects and e-mails I should be attending too.  The kitchen that I am in belongs to none other than my current employer. For now I am “Nanny Jill” a title I was all too willing to take a little over a year ago. Now while the children are upstairs napping and I peruse the internet, click, I hop over to godaddy.com testing out website names for one project, then click again and I’m back to Google–my home page–typing in keywords on travel blogs, I start to wonder how am I going to accomplish my dream. My mind is not at ease. I feel like there is a big change in the wings and I’m just at war with myself. And I don’t know where to start, a perpetual problem I have.

You should not arrive at your grave in a well-preserved body

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!”
~Hunter S. Thompson

I am finally 30 and so far it’s OK. In fact it’s been more than OK. I dreaded the day I turned 30. I worried I would wake up on that day to feelings of self-doubt and start to feel the pressure of being single, unmarried and still living at home at 30. But  that was not the case. I woke up refreshed and serene.

The Bucket List

So I’m finally doing it, really, I’m leaving the country. Finally. I’ve always, always wanted to travel and now here I am less than 72 hours away from leaving the country for the first time. I’m more than excited. This is the door that is going to lead me to all the traveling I want to do, or so I hope. But it’s a reminder that I’m about to accomplish something on my bucket list and I thought it would be a way to write it down here and check them off as I go along!

Words for thought…

I’ve spent a number of days wandering the blogosphere:

The definition on Urban Dictionary made me giggle out loud:

blogosphere:

  1. A tragedy.
  2. Imagine a million lunatics wandering the streets mumbling to themselves.
Write it all down and put it on the web. Congratulations, you’ve just created the blogosphere.
  3. A buzzword created to represent the overall blogging bloggity blog blog community. Often used by those who want to convince themselves that they are some sort of “internet professional”, but instead come off as sounding completely ridiculous.

And I kind of have to agree. All of us out there, we in the blog-o-sphere are a certain kind of lunatic.

Introverts, extroverts, all just trying to figure out this thing we call life.

No. 16 to 30 of thirty things I’ve learned before I’m thirty

I previously started a list of the 30 things I’ve learned before I’m thirty. It’s been a month since I posted that post (No. 1 to 15 of 30 things I’ve learned) and now I’m completing this post before I turn 30, which is in fact tomorrow, yikes!

So here goes nothing:

16. Everything can change and change fast.  Friends, family, you, your situation in life. Sometimes you did something to make this happen and sometimes it’s just life. Understand what has happened and move on.

Update (cause I have such an exciting life)

I am having a new header made for this blog o’ mine.  I’m waiting patiently–like a child on the night before their birthday or Christmas…

but either way this blog will have a pretty new look soon. Woo hoo!

No. 1 to 15 of 30 things I’ve learned (and am still learning) before 30

I just spent two hours reading other people’s blogs. Who are funnier than me.

How is that possible?

And why can’t I get my funny (translate: sarcasm) onto the pages of this blog, so that the world can become a better place for knowing my opinions and reading about my exciting day-to-day life (translation: possible snorefest.)

Robbed.

Violated. Terrified. Violated.

The words keep running circles in my head. Round and round they go with no end in sight.

You want to scrub off the layer of filth that covers your home after an event like this. But there’s no scrubbing off the scent and feeling of someone being in your home, walking on your floors, touching your things, ripping open drawers, tossing clothes.

Would the real you please stand up?

I’m supposed to be writing everyday. Except I’m not.

I’m not doing myself any favors. I know.
